Psoriasis

Psoriasis is an autoimmune clinical condition. This states that your immune system attacks your body and this causes a rapid build-up of cells. These cells then further deposit on your skin and start to scale.

This results in a sped-up skin process. It causes rashes and itchy and scaly patches. It is usually a long-term chronic disease. Usually, the cells that develop tend to fall off within a month or so. But due to such rapid development of the cells, they fall off at a very slow rate when compared to the rate of their build-up. This causes layers of skin cells to be deposited.

Causes of Psoriasis

Researchers believe that both genetic and environmental factors can have a role in causing this condition.

Trigger Factors

There are a few things that arise from the traits that were already present in your body. Sometimes it triggers, and if it doesn’t you might not even know that it existed in the first place. There are very few cases in which this happens. These are a few of the triggers that cause Psoriasis

  • Stress- When you are under a lot of pressure or are an anxious person, this might be just the trigger for Psoriasis.
  • Consumption of any kind of alcohol might also be a trigger
  • Any injury. If it heals the wrong way or couldn’t stop healing, it might lead to a very similar condition like that to Psoriasis.
  • Medications- Lithium, medications for high blood pressure, anti-malarial medications etc. can be the trigger. There are other medications which can serve as the trigger as well. The ones mentioned above are the mainstream medications that trigger Psoriasis.
  • Infections- As we all know, when we are sick or going through some infection, our body will try to heal us and your immune system will be activated. When the immune system does not know where to stop, this issue arises. It will keep fighting long after the infection is gone, negatively affecting your body.

This happens in very few cases but sometimes, even food can be triggered psoriasis. Foods like red meat, dairy products and gluten might show bad reactions. While consuming them, make sure that you are not allergic to any of them.
As per the very latest invention, there is a possibility that psoriasis is sometimes caused by separation conflict. Now what is separation conflict, one might ask? Well, this as its name suggests, is a conflict that arises in mind after separation from a person or a thing or sometimes maybe even a place.

For example, if someone’s parents got separated or you lost your favourite bracelet. Or this can also happen when you want to separate from something but you are unable to. For example, if one has an abusive parent and they want to separate from them but is very young there isn’t much they can do. Conditions like these can also lead to psoriasis.

Is psoriasis contagious?

To answer this question in a single word, No. Psoriasis is not at all contagious. It is a condition that is related to your immune system and your immune system only. It cannot be transmitted through any bodily fluids or any kind of physical contact. There is not much discovered about this disease but it cannot be transferred, that much is very clear.
